Your reality

It surfaces at work.
The usual options.
None built for dependence.

Send them to the EAP.

The right first door. But a few counselling sessions can’t safely treat physical dependence. That needs medical withdrawal, then months of structure.

Refer to residential rehab.

Often $15,000 or more, and weeks away from work and family. It’s the option most people turn down.

Manage it as performance.

Warnings deal with the incident, not the cause. Often you lose a skilled worker, and nobody gets better.

The missing middle step.

Between a few counselling sessions and a rehab bed, nothing treats dependence. That’s the gap we fill, at home and around a job.

The cost at work

$6bn

a year in lost productivity from alcohol and other drugs in Australian workplaces.1

11.5M

sick days a year taken by Australian workers because of their own alcohol or drug use.2

1 in 10

workers say a co-worker’s drinking has affected them.3

What it looks like · Illustrative

The week it surfaced, and the year that followed.

Sam, a site supervisor, returns a non-negative test after a near miss. Instead of a final warning, his manager points him to the EAP. His EAP counsellor refers him to Clean Slate. He’s assessed within days, detoxes at home over a week of leave, and comes back to work with a year of support behind him.

Why 12 months

Detox is neither a treatment nor a cure.
The treatment is what follows.

Withdrawal makes stopping safe. It doesn’t change why someone drinks or uses, or what happens next. With Clean Slate, detox is one week inside a 12-month program, delivered at home anywhere in Australia, with minimal disruption to work and family life.

  1. 1

    Preparation

    2–3 weeks

Full suitability assessment, clinical investigations, goal setting with a dedicated clinician, and a nominated support person.

  2. 2

    Detox

    1 week

Doctor-supervised withdrawal at home: daily clinician check-ins, daily dispensing at the local pharmacy, doctor review, and hospital escalation if needed.

  3. 3

    Aftercare

    11 months

Pharmacotherapy, one-to-one sessions, group work including facilitated SMART Recovery, drop-ins and monthly masterclasses. The support that makes detox hold.

Privacy and responsibility

Clear lines. The clinical care and the risk sit with us.

Clean Slate holds

  • Assessment, risk screening and escalation
  • Prescribing, daily supervision and all clinical records
  • 12 months of treatment and recovery support
  • The clinical relationship and its liability

You and your EAP keep

  • Your EAP as the front door
  • Your existing EAP contract and policies
  • Return-to-work planning, your usual way
  • Aggregate reports, never individual ones

Treatment is voluntary and confidential. It is not a testing or disciplinary tool. Clinical records are never shared with an employer. Reporting counts help-seeking, not prevalence, so nothing identifies a team member.

How it works

From the moment it surfaces
to a supported return.

  1. 1

    It surfaces

    Day one

A non-negative test, an incident, or a leader’s concern. Support is offered as the first step, not discipline.

  2. 2

    Confidential referral

    Within days

Your EAP refers to a Clean Slate assessment, or the person refers themselves. We check suitability and funding. High-risk cases are escalated, not enrolled.

  3. 3

    Care matched to need

    12 months

Counselling, or doctor-supervised detox at home followed by clinician-led aftercare for the rest of the year.

  4. 4

    Supported return

    Throughout

Return to work is supported, and work outcomes are tracked. You see the results in aggregate, never person by person.

Who pays

Funded routes first.
Employer funding is optional.

Private health insurance

Fully funded for people with unrestricted psychiatric hospital cover. 30+ health funds, checked by us at intake.

PHN-commissioned places

Funded places in some regions, at no cost to the person.

Discounted employer rate

People without cover can self-fund at a discounted rate through your organisation. A fraction of a residential admission.

Employer-funded places

Optional. Fund places if you want cost to stop being a barrier. We handle funding checks and billing directly with each person.

What People and Safety leads ask us

Your questions,
answered.

Doesn’t measuring this create liability?

We count help-seeking, not prevalence. Reporting is aggregate only, and nothing identifies a team member.

We can’t become the health system.

You don’t. The clinical relationship and the liability sit with us. Your role is to make support the first step.

Our EAP is our front door.

It stays that way. We train your EAP counsellors and give them somewhere to refer when someone needs more than counselling.

People won’t put their hand up.

Many won’t, at first. Anonymous education, self-referral and support for families give people ways in that don’t start with telling work.

Is home detox safe?

Yes, for the right people. We use a full suitability assessment, doctor-led medication, daily clinician contact and hospital escalation for anyone outside scope.

Does this meet our WHS obligations?

It supports your duty of care and your psychosocial risk controls. It doesn’t replace your WHS policies or obligations, and we never position it as a compliance guarantee.

One ask

Make support the first step.

You lower the barriers to asking for help. We lower the barriers to treatment. Book a working session with your HR lead, WHS lead or EAP account manager, and we’ll map how a confidential pathway fits your policies.
