Recovery can feel like a constant effort to manage difficult thoughts, emotions, and urges. It’s natural to want those experiences to go away. But building a sustainable path forward isn’t about eliminating discomfort - it’s about changing how you relate to it in everyday life.
In this masterclass, Introduction to Acceptance in Everyday Life, Clean Slate Clinic’s Managing Director Fiona Faulkner is joined by nurse Bec M to introduce Acceptance as a practical skill drawn from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Rather than trying to suppress or avoid difficult internal experiences, this approach focuses on helping you make space for them, so you can respond with greater clarity and intention.
Participants will explore how resisting or avoiding discomfort can keep unhelpful patterns in place, and learn simple, real-world strategies to respond differently. Through guided exercises and practical frameworks, you’ll see how acceptance can support meaningful change - allowing you to move forward, even when difficult thoughts and feelings are still present.
