Integrating Movement Into Your Recovery
Learn practical ways to incorporate movement, breathwork, and mindfulness into recovery. Build confidence and emotional strength through physical activity.

This session offers practical ways to incorporate movement in your daily routine, focus on the breath, build confidence, and guide you in a positive direction.
Hosted by Head of Partnerships & Community at Clean Slate Clinic, Fiona Faulkner, and co-hosted by Ben Hamlett, a former sportsperson turned psychologist and breathwork advocate - the session explored Ben's personal journey of substance dependence, and how physical activity, conscious breathing, and mindfulness practices have become his go-to tools in building emotional strength and maintaining sobriety.
Watch the recording to learn:
- Setbacks to Strength. Setbacks are often what lead to resilience. Focus on the small wins and stay in the present.
- Mind Body Connection: The mind and body shouldn't be seen as separate. They inform each other. Fiona and Ben discuss the impact on the nervous system including stress, anxiety or injuries - and the ebbs of flows of doing high impact movement then slowing down.
- Helpful Movement Techniques: Ways to move your body depending on your preference. Even dancing!
- How to Practice Breathwork: the 4-6-3 breathing technique (in through the nose and out through the nose too!)
